Michael Cathie – Co-Founder, Managing Director
Michael’s career in multimedia began in 1999 and he has since owned and operated two multimedia companies, including Webplace which he began in 2003. Michael was involved with the development team of the Mambo/Joomla Content Management Systems and is currently the Public Officer for the Mambo Foundation, contributing to the administration of Mambo Foundation. Michael has steered Webplace into the top 10 fastest growing Australian IT companies in 2010 (No.4 - Dunn & Bradstreet Report). As Managing Director, Michael oversees the strategic direction for Webplace and daily operations of the company.
Cameron Fraser – Co-Founder, Technical Director
As co-owner in Webplace, Cameron brings over eight years of multimedia industry experience to the management team. Cameron worked as a full time web programmer/developer with the software development firm Miro International, the team that started Mambo, which is also the core for Joomla Content Management System. As Technical Director, Cameron coordinates all technical aspects within Webplace. Cameron heads up the development team coordinating all development of websites, iphone/ipad/android applications, intranets, CMS integrations and CMS customisation.
Graham Cassidy – Senior Software Developer
Graham initially developed his application and CMS website development skills working for a large automotive company. Here he designed and developed applications for the automated testing of electronic devices, in addition to creating numerous intranet-based systems. After completing his two university degrees of Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Science at Swinburne University, Graham went on to work for a large telecommunications company where he performed system integration activities for clients across Asia and the Middle East. In addition to this, he ran a small web development and hosting business specialising in small business web solutions. He then went on to lead the growth of a local software development company, growing his team from just 3 to 13 people in under 2 years.
Andre Gulbis – Creative Director
Andre has over 15 years experience in the multimedia industry, working in web development, 2D and 3D multimedia development and gaming development across multiple platforms and scripting languages. Andre works as the Creative Director at Webplace, which includes the design and development of websites, CMS integrations, 2D/3D animations and web application development.
Ian Stewart – Business and Operations Manager
Ian has over 13 years experience in the online sector with an emphasis on strategy, web standards, new media and user experience, as well as extensive experience in government projects. Prior to joining Webplace Ian was the Online Adviser to various Victorian Government departments and agencies after stints with Multimedia Victoria and Department of Sustainability and Environment. Ian has spoken at a number of conferences on social media and community engagement. Ian heads up strategic developments in client and internal projects for Webplace.
Oliver Newbery - Senior Designer
Oliver is graphic designer with more than ten years studio experience in both the UK and Australia. Oliver’s digital media experience includes front-end design for multimedia interactives, immersive websites, iPhone applications and web-apps for mobile devices. Previously, Oliver spent five years at a large media company in Docklands working for international clients in the sports and publishing industries.
Sam Ding – Web Developer
Sam has worked as a development programmer, in 3D and virtual reality web applications. His skills are in development using PHP, Javascript and MYSQL web applications (specialised in Joomla! and Wordpress CMS). Sammy has also lectured Interaction Design and Web Developing for Charles Sturt University and University of East London Degrees , and also lectured various multimedia, mobile and games development subjects at Malaysia's University.
Travis Fraser – Web Developer
Travis accumulated extensive multimedia experience as the Technical Manager of the development team at Miro International, the firm that launched the Mambo Content Management system. At Webplace, Travis’ role as Programmer/Developer involves the development of websites, intranets, CMS integrations, CMS customisation and development, component/module customisation.
