Nylex Website redesign & redevelopment

Showcasing 100 years of product development
overview Overview
Nylex is an iconic Australian brand and recognised as a leader in the supply of quality watering products. Nylex is owned by AMES, a global family of brands marketed through major retailers in the U.S., Canada and Australasia.
Challenge The Challenge

Nylex Watering is a household name when people think of garden hoses. Though the brand name was a well known one, their website did not reflect its brand promise, nor did it have accurate content or relevant functionality. AMES wanted a website that would live up to the brand promise, with a fresh new look that was also easy to manage. Products and product ranges change often, and they wanted a CMS that would support, not hinder the content management process. To keep up with the times, they wanted the new Nylex site to be responsive across all screen sizes and be WCAG 2.0 AA compliant for accessibility.

Opportunity The Solution

Webplace undertook a comprehensive user experience workshop to align business and customer goals to the proposed website design. From the findings, it was recommended that WordPress be used to manage the site content. A detailed CMS User Guide was also provided to further assist AMES with future content updates.

10 wireframe and design templates were provided to depict the new site look and feel. Once reviews and amends were made, Webplace embarked on the development phase by providing a custom WordPress solution that targeted Nylex’s business needs.

The Result

The new site design reflected the Nylex proposition: Premium watering solutions.

Not only did the site get a face lift, but it was now responsive, WCAG 2.0 AA compliant and assisted their audience groups with correct information about their product offerings and where they were able to purchase them. Site visitors can now compare products online prior to visiting a store to purchase them.

Less time is taken to update their product catalogue thanks to the WordPress custom content types that drive the process.
